Last week, Jeopardy! got geeky with an entire category devoted to Sci-Fi Books. And right in the middle spot, as the $600 clue, was a little-known author and his Star Trek homage you might have heard of…
In all seriousness, it’s very cool to see John Scalzi’s Redshirts representing alongside clues about Cory Doctorow’s Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, Connie Willis’ Blackout, Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One, and the VanderMeers:
Now we’re just waiting for the day when a Jeopardy! clue prompts the response “What is Stubby the Rocket?”

“What is Stubby the Rocket?”
I can think of several clues for that, but I’d get modded and possibly banned, so…
The obvious follow up question is, did the contestant get it right?
@2: Yes! I actually happened to catch this live on Friday, and the contestant representing the University of Pittsburgh (it was the College Tournament final) answered “Redshirts” correctly. I think the only question in the category that wasn’t answered was the Ready Player One question (which challenged the contestants to name a certain video game, featuring a knight riding an ostrich, that appears in the book.)
